9 Must Haves for School Lunches
School Lunches are a new adventure for me. My daughter is starting primary after labor day and I’ve been searching for fun school lunch ideas on Pinterest for the past couple months! (I’m a bit crazy like that) I also looked around and did some research (because again, I’m a research person) on some great school lunch supplies that are durable and will withstand the clumsiness of little ones all around. Lastly, I wanted to find some accessories to use in her school lunches where I can get creative with her food, add some fun, and maybe even a smile to her face when she eats her lunch.
I bought a few different School Lunch supplies that we have been testing out for a little while now and I decided to share what we have and what my thoughts are on them. So here we go! My 9 Must Haves for School Lunches are:
Bentgo Kids Lunch Box
The Bento Kids lunch box has all the amazing features needed for your little one. One of the really cool features that I love are the rubberized edges and the interior hinges. Which means it’s a great choice for little kids who, inevitably, drop EVERYTHING. My daughter has dropped it several times, it hasn’t leaked or popped open once. Another feature about the Bentgo Kids lunch box that I like is the built in tray with 5 compartments. First, the built in tray is removable and dishwasher safe for easy clean up. Score! Second, the 5 compartments make portioning out food so easy and I was able to fit a good sized sandwich in the largest compartment. Lastly, the fact the Bentgo Kids is leak proof and easy for my daughter to open and close is always a win!
I have been incredibly impressed with the Stasher Bag company and their products. I bought the aqua sandwich bag for my daughter’s snack while she’s at school. It fits an apple, banana, or other fruit and veggie perfectly. The Stasher Bag is freezer, microwave, and dishwasher safe. You can even put it in boiling water! It’s 100% silicone, food safe, and self sealing. Additionally the bag contains no latex, PVC, or petroleum. Another bonus that I really like about the company is their passion for reducing plastic usage and the love of our planet in general. I’m all about supporting companies that are concerned with the environment. The Stasher Bag has been a total game changer for me and a product I can use to finally replace my Ziploc sandwich bags. I only purchased one of these, but I’m definitely going back to buy more because I have found so many different uses for them.
Bubba Brands HERO Kids Water Bottle
The HERO Kids Water Bottle is 12 oz, insulated, and stainless steel. I’ve used a couple other brands of stainless steel water bottles for my kids, but these are by far the best ones I’ve used so far. It keeps drinks cold for 12 hours. We tested this by leaving it in our car, in the hot Florida sun, all day. Sure enough, by the end of the day it was still cold! It has a leakproof lid with a pop up straw spout and built in finger loop, which is great for my little one to it carry with. Finally, it’s dishwasher safe and has a lifetime warranty. I don’t know about you but we have gone through COUNTLESS numbers of cups for my kids and I absolutely HATE hand washing all of the little plugs, spouts, and straws. As ridiculous as it sounds the Bubba Kids Water Bottle has made life easier.
Bentology Insulated Lunch Bag
The Bentology lunch bag fits the bentgo kids lunch box PERFECTLY. The inside lining is PEVA lining thats easy to wipe clean and there is also a velcro mesh pocket on the inside for stashing an ice pack. The expandable outside pocket works great for storing utensils and a napkin, but it fits a snack container nicely too. Lastly, on the side of the lunch bag there is a mesh pocket for hold a water bottle and packs away nicely with a zipper when not in use. All in all a great insulated lunch bag to have!
To-Go Ware RePEat Bamboo Kids Utensils
This set of bamboo kids utensils are the perfect size for little hands and fit perfectly inside their lunch bag. The storage bag fits the fork, knife, and spoon inside and has a cool carabiner on the bag for the ultimate on the go convienance. Made from 100% bamboo it’s an eco-friendly and non-toxic alternative to plastic ware. The bamboo utensils are heat and strain resistant and will not absorb flavors. Additionally, they are super easy to clean with just some warm water and soap.
U Konserve Squiggle Sweat-Free Ice Pack
The best ice pack I’ve ever used! Filled with a non-toxic gel and a cool moisture resistant cover that’s made from recycled plastic bottles. How cool is that?! It’s ideal for keeping your lunches cold and dry.
Crusty’s All-Star Sandwich Cutters
In the past I would have thought that sandwich cutters are a complete waste of money but now that my kids are a little older and a little picker these sandwich cutters have been very handy! This set comes with 7 different designs that are suitable for boys or girls. They can even be used for siting pancakes or cookies. Another big plus for me is that they don’t waste half of the sandwich when using them!
CuteZCute Animal Friends Food Deco Cutter & Stamp Kit
The CuteZCute Food Cutters have been one of my favorite purchases and both kids love them! So far, I have used them on sandwiches, pancakes, and rice. You can also use them for pastries, cookies, mini pizza, the possibilities are endless! The mini panda pick is extremely useful for popping out the small pieces from the cutter. Another plus is that the animal food cutters are the perfect size for gluten free bread which tends to be much smaller than your average bread loaf. They are BPA free, top rack dishwasher safe, and made in the USA. Another must have when it comes to kids lunches!
StarPack Vegetable Cutters
StarPack vegetable cutters are the perfect size for fruit and veggies. My daughter has never been picky when it comes to vegetables but these vegetable cutters have been a great way to change up and add some fun to her lunches. If you do have a picky eater especially when it comes to veggies or fruit these are great option to make it fun an they will be much more likely to at least try them!
